For this shot, I used a silver reflector at camera-right to reflect some of the window light for a little bit of fill on the left side of Daniel’s face. It’s a subtle effect but does help in this shot.

Well, I finally got around to purchasing a portable, two-sided background for indoor, on-location portrait shoots. Per standard operating procedure, I asked Daniel if he would pose for me so I could get accustomed to using my new background. He agreed so I set it up black side forward (the other side is white), asked [...]

Wildlife came to me for once. This Mockingbird is guarding a nest that resides in a holly bush in a neighbor’s yard on the other side of my backyard fence. Every time I go out back, this defender squawks and dives at me, trying to scare me away. I was able to get this shot [...]

There may be numerous things wrong in America—God knows we, as a nation, need to get our act together—but I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
Happy Birthday, America!
