Capuchin Bird

Daniel and I spent some time at the Dallas World Aquarium yesterday, and we both came away with some really nice images. I believe this guy is called a “Capuchin Bird.” He was very entertaining and surprisingly tame, allowing us to get really close for some fill-the-frame shots.
I’ll be posting more images from our visit [...]
Bowl of Grapes

With no client sessions on the calendar for Tuesday, I decided to take advantage of the time by working on some still life photography. This one was fun, arranging and rearranging the grapes and moving the light source around for the sake of experimentation. Most of the lighting is from an open window behind the [...]
Fire it Up!

I met a friend and fellow photographer at the Highland Village Balloon & Music Festival Saturday evening. We were hoping for a balloon lighting at night, but winds proved to be too much for the balloons so they were packed up early. I might try Plano’s balloon festival in September if the forecast is for [...]

At first glance, one might think these are bats due to the sheer number of them. However, they are actually Purple Martins, North America’s largest native swallow. After spending the spring and much of summer raising their young in nest boxes provided by humans, the martins begin congregating in huge flocks in August in preparation [...]

Our pug, Ginger, is now 12 years old and exhibiting all the signs of old age: diminished vision due to cataracts, decreased auditory sensibility, gray facial hair, and sleeping most of the time. However, as with most pugs, her appetite is as voracious as it was when she was two years old.
This brings [...]
A Cool Break

Daniel enjoys an iced coffee drink at the local Southlake Town Square coffee house on a very hot summer day.
We had been to the Apple Store to check out the latest goodies (iPhone in particular) and decided to stroll around for a while. It didn’t take us long to find ourselves at Starbucks ordering our [...]
Coffee House

Seekers Coffee House & Cafe opened in February 2008. I finally got around to visiting for a few minutes. It’s nice and roomy inside, and the coffee is good. It’s located at Precinct Line and Harwood Road in Hurst. If you find yourself in the area, drop in for a cup!
Daniel – Take Three

For this last image, I wanted to get a spontaneous reaction from Daniel, rather than a posed smile, in order to reveal more of his personality. To achieve this, I told him to think about a particular girl that he likes (who shall remain nameless), and he immediately burst into this expression.
