Gray Jay

Gray Jays are a common bird at higher elevations in NM. There were six or seven of these guys keeping us company at Middle Fork Lake as they waited to see if we were going to share our food. The one in this picture has laid claim to a discarded apple core.

Road to Goose Lake

This dirt road leads from the town of Red River, NM, to a cold, crystal-clear mountain lake called “Goose Lake.” In many places along the road, only ATVs and Jeeps can get through the narrow, rocky passages that eventually end at the lake.
